Value Conflict and Consensus in Cultural Diversity
Dr. Edward Alam had the chance to participate in conferences in three different cities in China. This was an opportunity to speak to Chinese scholars about LDI, which was reflected in his academic papers titled “Value Conflict and Consensus in Cultural Diversity” at Shangyang (Liaoning University), “Reconstruction of Values and Morality in Global Times” at Yangzhou University, and “Understanding and Appreciating Cultural Diversity: The Limits and Opportunities of Modernity” at Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Dr. Alam addressed the challenge of appreciating cultural diversity in a way so as to allow this diversity to become the basis for greater global unity, rather than for deeper conflict.
