Lebanese Marxist thought in Shiite Islam in Bangkok, Thailand

The Graduate School of Philosophy & Religion at Assumption University, Bangkok, Thailand organized two weeks of guest lectures for Dr. Edward Alam on the topics of “Religion & Violence” and “Lebanese Marxist thought in Shiite Islam”. Dr. Alam had a series of advisory sessions with a Thai philosophy student during her Ph.D on the Lebanese Civil War, as one of her advisors. Throughout the two weeks of lectures, Dr. Alam stressed the importance of genuine religion for promoting peace, the role of LDI in promoting dialogue as a culture, and against every brand of religious fundamentalism, making references to the thought of important Lebanese philosophers, such as Mahdi Amil and Afif Osseiran.
