MR. NABIL ZORKOT (IVORY COAST)
Nabil Zorkot, a renowned photographer, was born 1961 in Zrarieh, Lebanon. In 1964 he joined his father in the Ivory Coast. In 1980 he left to Canada to study at the Laval University, Quebec City where he earned a Certificate in Film Studies, and in 1983 a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Film Productions from Concordia University, Montreal, 1985. After gaining eight years’ of experience in photography and cinematography in Canada, he returned to the Ivory Coast in 1988 to establish his own photographic studio and later on a now renowed publishing house named Editions Profoto. Zorkot realized photographic work for important magazines on African subjects. He is the author of much travel, cultural and cooking books, including: - Beautés Noires - Visages et paysages de Cote d’Ivoire - Lagunes de Cote d’Ivoire - Voyage en Côte d’Ivoire - Visages et paysages du Liban - Cuisine d'Afrique - La Cuisine Libanaise - Cuisine de Côte d'Ivoire et d'Afrique de l'Ouest As a filmmaker, he has worked in various types of filmmaking. In the Ivory Coast, he made advertising, institutionnal, and documentary films for local and foreign companies. Poussieres d'été sur le Liban a 60-minute film on the 2006 war in Lebanon is his last documentary film. He is currently making a documentary on the Lebanese migration to the Ivory Coast.
