MR. PAULO CALDAS (Brazil)

Paulo Caldas is an acknowledged Brazilian film director. His debut feature, Perfumed Ball (1997), became a classic in contemporary Brazilian cinema, won awards in many festivals, and was acclaimed by the critics and the public. His second feature film, The Little Prince’s Rap Against the Wicked Souls (2000), was selected as part of the Official Selection in the Venice Film Festival. His third feature film, Happy Desert (Brasil/Germany, 2007), was selected as part of the Official Selection in Berlinale and won ‘Best Director’ in the Guadalajara Film Festival. His fourth feature film, Land of Desire (Brasil/Portugal, 2011), has been part of the Official Selection of the Taormina Film Fest and São Paulo International Film Festival. His short film MOON (2013) was produced to be part of the permanent audiovisual collection of the Cais do Sertão Museum in Recife, Brazil. He is currently working on the: TV documentary, Passion and Fight, which was  launched in July 2017; Feature documentary Saudade (post-production), which will be launched in December 2017; Feature fiction, Desert Sea, currently in pre-production and scheduled to be filmed in January 2018; and Writing of the scripts for the feature-length fiction films, The American Man and Paths of Loneliness.
